Marcus Smart’s 28th birthday went just about as well as one could hope for.
His birthday Sunday started with a statement win on national television over the Brooklyn Nets, a big 126-120 victory for the C’s. Smart contributed 14 points and nine rebounds in the win, which boosted the Celtics to 14-2 over their last 16 games.
As he mentioned in his tweet, Smart truly was in for a big night ahead.
Smart was welcomed Sunday night with a surprise party attended by many of his Celtics teammates. The Celtics guard gave a speech as well, thanking his teammates and friends in a message of gratitude for his first eight years in Boston.
The night gave the Celtics a chance to celebrate their recent run of dominance, and honor one of their cornerstone players and current faces of the franchise.
