MICALE, John C. A lifelong Medford resident, passed away peacefully at the Mass. General Hospital on Friday, March 18th. He was 66. The son of the late Rosario and Jennie (Salvato) Micale, John worked for many years as a technician with Erickson Fuel Co. of Medford. A hardworking and experienced heating and air conditioning technician, John was trusted and beloved by his many customers. He worked hard throughout his life and was an awesome neighbor and friend. He was the first person out the door to run a snow blower and made sure that all of his neighbors were dug out as well. He would help anyone in need. He was a great enthusiast for drag racing, antique autos and street rods, a hobby he shared with his lifelong best friend Paul Orso. John was devoted to his wife, son, and family. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going out to eat and sharing good meals. In 2014, John was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. As the disease progressed, John adapted and faced his new challenges with his customary easygoing nature and the loving support of his family. John’s family is particularly grateful to the staff of MGH who cared for John through his illness, especially nurses Zhor and Judy. The beloved husband of Karen (Devereaux) Micale, John was a devoted and proud father to John Micale and his girlfriend Kayla Gardner. He was a dear brother to Vanessa Gray and her husband Joe, Stephanie Micale, and the late Jennifer Micale. He was a loving uncle to Tiffany Gray, Tanya Gray, and Stephen Micale; and great-uncle to Liana, Autumn, and Jack. John was also the son-in-law to the late Regis and Mary (Coogan) Devereaux; he also leaves his beloved brothers-in-law, Jim Devereaux and his wife, Joyce, Danny Devereaux, and the late Bobby Devereaux and his wife Joyce.
