Boston, MA – In the Hofstra women’s indoor track team’s first competition of 2022, Sophia Masciarelli ran one of the fastest times of her career for the Pride at Friday’s John Thomas Terrier Classic from the BU Track & Tennis Center.
Running in the 5000m, Masciaelli clocked in with a time of 17:58.44, placing her 15th in her section and 38th overall in the event. Her time was the third-fastest in the event in Hofstra women’s indoor track history. She falls just short of besting her personal-best time of 17:58.23, set in 2020 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, also hosted by Boston University.
Masciarelli and the Pride will return to action on February 11. Hofstra will split its squad and send competitors to the FastTrack National Invitational in Staten Island and the David Hemery Valentine Open in Boston.
